FAQ

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is an important part of your trip and should be purchased before embarking on your journey.
At Travel2Africa, we recommend that you take out all the necessary Travel Insurance before commencing on your journey.

What Special medication will I need?

There are few countries within East Africa where Malaria exists. Malaria is a potentially fatal disease and a threat to one’s life. Please ensure before you travel, that you have consulted with your doctor as to which vaccinations you should receive before departing.

What about safety?

When travelling through Southern Africa, be vigilant and be aware of the location of your belongings at all times. Always be aware and cautious not to display flashy items or accessories. Make use of the safe provided at your hotels or lodges. Always stay together and avoid roaming alone in the city

How is the weather in Southern Africa?

The climate is constantly mild, with average daytime temperatures around 16 °C (61 °F) in winter and around 20 °C (68 °F) in summer, South Africa's climatic conditions generally range from Mediterranean in the southwestern corner of South Africa to temperate in the interior plateau, and subtropical in the northeast. A small area in the northwest has a desert climate. Most of the country has warm, sunny days and cool nights. Summer is the rainy season from November to March.

What should I wear?

Please pack clothing that will be suitable for your everyday adventure. A small jersey for cold night should be enough and light clothes for your day. Avoid overpacking your suitcase with unnecessary clothes as we recommend one average suitcase per traveller.

Can I use my ATM Card?

In South Africa, most of the debit cards are accepted. In the neighbouring countries, we advise that you use a credit card. We do recommend carrying small amount of cash while travelling in the remote region.

Should I tip in?

How much to tip in depends entirely on your level of satisfaction. In most restaurants a tip is standard 10%.
